QNAP has launched the Turbo NAS TS-421U and TS-420U, two entry-level NAS devices that feature Marvel 6282 processors, 1 GB of DDR3 memory and support for a maximum of four drives. Both these models aim to provide a “well-rounded backup solution with comprehensive backup alternatives” such as Real-Time Remote (RTRR) for real-time or scheduled backups.
In addition to local storage, the devices feature native support for a variety of cloud storage services such as Amazon A3, ElephantDrive and Synform and fully supports third-party backup solutions such as Acronics True Image, Apple Time Machine and Veeam Backup & Replication.

The TS-421U and TS-420U also support cross-platform file sharing for Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX users, and provide a centralized storage solution. Additionally the Windows AD and LDAP directory service features enable IT administrators to retrieve user accounts from Windows AD or LDAP-based directory server and efficiently assign access rights. These capabilities are further expanded with support for Windows Access Control List (ACL) which offers sophisticated shared folder permission settings.
